Thurmont Community Park

The sleepy little town of Thurmont, MD (pop. 6,000) comes to life every year during the second weekend in October when the annual Catoctin Colorfest takes place. This year, the event commemorates its 52nd year of operation, and promises to be bigger and better than ever.

Colorfest began in 1963 as a nature walk, but quickly evolved into a juried Arts & Crafts Show featuring 300 well known and respected artists from across the country. Recognized in Sunshine Artists Magazine as one of the top 35 shows in the United States, Colorfest is also one of the largest events of its kind on the East coast. Expect craft demonstrations, and a wide selection of delicious food will be available to satisfy everyone’s appetite.

Note: Over the last half century, the event has grown to encompass the entire town! If you’d like to see us, and you’re interested primarily in handmade arts and crafts, be sure to come to the COMMUNITY PARK. Admission is free, but there may be a nominal fee to park. Shuttle bus service is available all day.

This is the biggest show we do all year! We’ve been very busy preparing– please come say hi!

The Town of Thurmont is located at the base of the beautiful Catoctin Mountains in Frederick County, Maryland. It is easily accessible via route U.S. 15 and is a pleasant scenic drive from points north and south. Thurmont is approximately 50 miles from Washington, D.C. and Baltimore, Maryland or Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
